Counter Jet Mill

Alpine fluid bed opposed jet mill AFG and TFG and TTG

In the case of jet milling, comminution takes place exclusively through particle-particle collisions within the gas jets. Since there are no machine components in the grinding zone, both machine wear and contamination of the material to be ground are avoided. Jet milling is therefore often used when the product must not be contaminated by abrasion.

Jet milling is suitable for all material hardnesses: from Mohs hardness 1 (talc) to Mohs hardness 10 (diamonds).

The AFG fluidized bed opposed jet mill (jet mill) for the production of powders with a steep particle size distribution and sharp upper particle size limits in the range < 5 µm – 200 µm.

  • Grinding nozzles arranged in the grinding container circumference
  • Classifying wheel(s) arranged horizontally in the top part of the classifier
  • Cool and contamination-free grinding.
  • Easy to clean thanks to the hinged or removable top part of the sifter and the inspection deck in the grinder housing

With the AFG jet mill, even difficult products can be produced economically:

  • Heat-sensitive substances such as toners, resins, waxes, fats, ion exchangers, pesticides, dyes, pigments
  • Hard, abrasive materials such as silicon carbide, zircon sand, corundum, glass frit, aluminum oxide, metal compounds
  • High-purity substances to be processed without contamination, such as fluorescent powder, silica gel, silicic acid, special metals, ceramic raw materials, pharmaceuticals
  • High-performance magnet materials based on rare earth metals such as neodymium-iron-boron and samarium-cobalt. Mineral raw materials such as kaolin, graphite, mica, talc
  • Selectively crushed composites such as metal alloys

The TFG series is a special version of the fluid bed opposed jet mill for processing toner , powder coating and pigments . An essential feature of the TFG is the good cleanability of the machine parts that come into contact with the product.

Due to the flat bottom of the grinding container, only  a  small amount of unground product remains in the machine after the end of production. The classifying wheel is driven by a vertically arranged shaft.

finishes

  • Polished stainless steel
  • Pressure shock resistant 10 bar overpressure
  • load cells
  • Megajet nozzles
  • Wear protection for classifier wheel

The TTG Turbo Twin series is a variant of the fluidized bed opposed jet mill with a new, patented Turbo Twin classifier wheel that has been further developed in terms of process technology. As a result, the TTG achieves the highest fineness, or an increase in throughput with the same fineness and higher air volume. At the same time, the specific energy consumption is reduced.

A trend towards ever finer grain sizes can also be observed in mass products. Nevertheless, tight price limits require ever more efficient production. One starting point for energy minimization is to reduce the pressure loss on the classifier wheel.

Possible Applications

  • mineral flours
  • mineral fillers
  • talc
  • barium sulfate
