Ball Mill

Alpine Ball Mill – Super Orion SO

The ball mills of the Super-Orion series are used for the dry fine grinding of mineral flour and ceramic raw materials. In combination with an air sifter, for example, the finest fillers can be produced with high output and at the same time low specific energy consumption.

Ball mills are drums that are filled to 30 to 40% of their volume with freely moving grinding media, the balls. The diameter of the balls ranges from one to several centimetres. Smaller balls are used for fine grinding and larger balls for coarse grinding and coarser tasks.

  • Ball mill for dry hard comminution, especially in the finest range below 10 µm, in circulation with ALPINE fine classifier
  • Storage of the grinding drum in water-cooled, oil-lubricated neck bearings
  • Grinding drum lined with hard metal armor plates or with non-ferrous grinding using Silex or ceramics
  • Grinding media according to the lining

Precise fill level control using load cell technology

A high level of consistency in product quality requires the exact measurement of the amount of regrind in the mill. For this reason, our ball mills are optionally available with a weighing device that can be used to control the fill level with great accuracy. The complete ball mill is mounted on a steel or concrete frame that sits on load cells.

These are combined in an evaluation unit and determine the total weight of the mill, grinding media and product. The dosing is controlled so precisely by the weighing technology that the mill always works with the optimum filling level. This means idle running or overfilling are reliably prevented, and the mill works extremely economically.

Characteristics

The classic standard version that has proven itself in worldwide use for decades. Design and performance are constantly adapted to the latest findings and practical requirements.

  • Cast side shields bolted to a welded drum shell; Manhole in the drum shell
  • Drive via ring gear and pinion with automatically controlled tooth lubrication, countershaft with clutches and high-performance gear
  • Bearing: Neck bearing designed as plain bearing with permanent circulating oil lubrication and temperature control
  • Optional: spherical roller bearing
  • Discharge of the ground material via peripheral slot discharge. Outlet body in two parts with upper ventilation connection with inspection cover
